What Is an Heirloom Wedding Album?
Why Invest in a Professional Wedding Album?
How the Wedding Album Design Process Works
Wedding Album: Sizes, Covers, and Customization Options
There’s something truly special about holding your wedding photos in your hands. Don’t get me wrong, digital galleries are amazing! You can download your images, share them with family, on social media, and relive your day from your phone or computer. But an heirloom wedding album gives those memories a permanent home.
It turns your favorite photos into something you can keep on your coffee table, pull out on anniversaries, and pass down for years and generations to come.
Your wedding album is more than a collection of pretty photos. It’s the story of one of the most meaningful days of your life, printed with care and designed to last.

An heirloom wedding album is a professionally designed and printed album made with high-quality materials.
These albums are created with thick pages, archival paper, fine binding, and beautiful cover options like linen, leather, vegan leather, or distressed leather. They’re made to feel timeless, durable, and personal.
Unlike a basic photo book, an heirloom album is designed to preserve your wedding photos in a way that feels intentional. It’s something you can display in your home and enjoy for years to come.
It also becomes part of your family’s story. Someday, your kids, grandkids, or loved ones may flip through those pages and see the people, places, details, and emotions that shaped the beginning of your marriage. That is what makes an album so meaningful!

Your wedding photos deserve to be seen. It’s so easy for photos to live in an online gallery, on a hard drive, or tucked away in your phone. Even when you love them, life gets busy. Sometimes the photos you care about most aren’t revisited as often as you thought they would be.
A professional wedding album changes that. It gives you a way to relive the full story of your day. Not just one image on a wall or a few favorites on Instagram, but the whole feeling of it.
The getting ready moments, the ceremony, portraits, and the important people who came to celebrate with you. Even the little details you spent months choosing. The dance floor, the hugs, the happy tears, and all of the in-between moments!
An album lets you slow down and experience your wedding day again. It’s also one of the first heirlooms you can create as a married couple. It’s something lasting that will feel just as meaningful years from now as it does when you first open it.
“We customized an album with Riley over a year after our wedding day and I wish we had made one sooner! The album transformed photos living on our Google Drive to a much more elevated showcase of the professional photos.” – Greg & Morgan
The best part of custom wedding album design is that your album is created around your actual story. Your album doesn’t need to include every single photo from your gallery. It’s designed to highlight the moments that matter most. The final design should feel complete and true to your day.
That might include your favorite portraits, emotional ceremony moments, family photos, wedding party images, reception details, and the candid moments that bring everything together.
And you don’t have to figure it all out alone, either. I’ll help turn your favorite images into a finished album design that feels beautiful and easy to look through. The goal is for your album to feel like your wedding day, from beginning to end!

The album process is simple and guided from start to finish. You will have choices to make, but you don’t have to design the whole thing yourself. I’ll walk you through each step so the process feels fun and not overwhelming.
After your final gallery is delivered, you’ll create a list of favorite images and a smaller list of must-have photos.
For weddings, most couples choose around 150-200 favorite images. For sessions, this is usually around 50-100 favorite images. Not every favorite image will make it into the final album, but this gives me a good starting point as I begin designing.
Your must-have list is usually around 10-20 images. These are the photos you cannot imagine your album without. Maybe it is the photo of you walking down the aisle, a favorite family portrait, or a quiet moment with your spouse that still makes you emotional.
These two lists help me understand what matters most to you before I start the design.
If you’re one of my clients, you can follow this quick guide to create your favorites and must-have lists in your gallery: How do I Favorite Photos in the Gallery?
Next, you’ll choose the custom details for your album. This includes:
Cover options include linen, leather, vegan leather, distressed leather, or vegan suede. You can also choose from different colors and debossing styles to make the album feel more personal.
There are optional add-ons too, like a slipcover or walnut wood box, if you want an extra special way to store and display your album.

Once I have your favorites, must-have images, and customization choices, I’ll create the first draft of your album design!
Then I’ll send you the design proof to review. You’ll be able to look through the full layout, leave comments, and request changes before anything is ordered. You’ll also receive a cover design proof so you can approve the front of your album.
Once the final design is approved, I’ll place the album order! The album will ship to me first so I can inspect it for any damage or issues before sending it to you. This gives me a chance to make sure everything looks right before it arrives at your door.
This is the best part!
Once your album is in your hands, you get to flip through your wedding day in a completely different way. You can keep it on your coffee table, look through it on anniversaries, share it with family when they visit, and even pull it out years from now and remember how it all felt.
Hopefully it gives you all the feels when thumbing through it time and time again. This may be your first family heirloom after getting married!

“The task of designing an album felt so daunting but Riley made the whole process a breeze. Riley’s talent, eye for design, honesty, and easy-going personality made the process from selecting photos, design, last minute edits, to the finished product a wonderful experience. Without her expertise, we would not have an album nearly as beautiful.” – Ben & Maggie
Another beautiful thing about heirloom wedding albums is that they can be customized to fit your style and your home. You’ll be able to choose the details that feel most like you, from the album size and cover material to the color, debossing design, names, and wedding date.
Some couples love a clean, neutral linen album. Others prefer leather, vegan leather, or a distressed leather cover with a little more texture. There are also debossing options that can feel classic, modern, romantic, or simple.
The goal is to create an album that looks beautiful on your coffee table and still feels timeless years from now.
Album pricing depends on the size, cover material, customizations, and add-ons you choose. I’ll walk you through all of the options so you can choose what feels best for your photos, your home, and your budget.

Parent albums are great gift options. These mini albums are 6×6 replicas of your full-size heirloom album. They include the same album design, just in a smaller size.
Parent albums have a simple, plain cover without front embossing. They are also made using leftover materials from the production of the full-size album. That means two really great things: less waste and a lower price!
They make beautiful gifts for parents, grandparents, or loved ones who played a special role in your wedding day. It gives them a tangible way to relive the day, too.
“I fell in love with Riley’s albums. I knew right away they matched the beauty and uniqueness of the wedding days. She knew how to discover what we would value the most and created not just a photo album, but a story book that captured the people we love the most on the days our sons married our beautiful daughters-in-law.” – Tom & Kathy

Yes, absolutely!
Most who inquire about albums have worked with me for their wedding or session, but that isn’t required. If you already have professional photos and want them turned into a custom album, I can still help create one for you.
This is a great option if your wedding photos are sitting in a gallery, on a computer, or in a folder somewhere, but you’ve never gotten around to printing them. I can help you turn those images into a finished album that feels beautiful and organized.
Albums aren’t just for weddings! A custom album can also be created for family photos, maternity sessions, senior photos, anniversary sessions, and other meaningful milestones.
There are cover and debossing options that work beautifully for non-wedding albums too. So whether you want to preserve your wedding day, your growing family, an extended family session, or a once-in-a-lifetime season, an album is such a beautiful way to do it.
Some memories deserve more than a folder on your computer, they deserve to be held forever!
A professional wedding album is made with higher-quality materials, thicker pages, stronger binding, and custom design support. It’s created to last and to tell the full story of your day in a more elevated way.
A photo book is usually more casual. It likely won’t have the same quality, durability, or professional design process.
For weddings, most couples start with around 150-200 favorite wedding images and 10-20 must-have photos. For sessions, most people choose around 50-100 favorites.
