Summer Indiana Dunes State Park Engagement Photos
Elliott and Kristen’s Indiana Dunes State Park engagement photos were the perfect mix of relaxed, romantic, and playful. Even though they grew up just a few towns apart (LaPorte and Michigan City), it wasn’t until their freshman year at Purdue that their paths crossed. Fast forward a few years (and a couple of engineering degrees later), and they’re planning a wedding together while living out in Iowa.
They made a trip back to Indiana to check off some wedding to-dos, and we couldn’t have asked for a better night at the dunes to capture this season of life. Golden light, the perfect summer breeze, and two people completely at ease with each other. It doesn’t get better than that!
Elliot & Kristen’s Indiana Dunes State Park Engagement Photos
Elliott and Kristen had such a clear vision for their session, and Indiana Dunes just felt right. The beach grass, winding trails, wood-planked stairs, and that open view of the lake made for the perfect nature-forward backdrop. We started out on one of the boardwalk trails, surrounded by tall dune grass and trees, and they kept it casual with laid-back outfits that still felt super intentional. Kristen wore a cute ruffled top and distressed jeans, and Elliott was in a short-sleeve button-up. Their outfits had that relaxed, summery vibe that totally fit the setting.
After exploring the trails, we made our way down to the beach. The weather had been foggy and rainy on the drive in (classic Indiana), but we got lucky. The sun started to peek through just in time for the first half of the session. By the time we hit the beach, the clouds rolled in and made the blue of the lake pop in every photo.
They also did a quick outfit change before heading to the sand. Kristen changed into a light, flowy dress that moved beautifully with the breeze, and it was the perfect look for the beach. Elliott kept it simple with a white button-up and jeans, and together they looked completely in their element. From barefoot walks along the shoreline to playful piggy-back rides and snuggles in the dunes, these two brought such an easy energy to every part of the shoot!
I had the best time hanging out with these two and capturing their Indiana Dunes State Park engagement photos, and I already can’t wait to see them again this fall for their wedding at The Lodge at Rush Lakes!
