Outdoor Winter Maternity Photos in Northern Indiana
There’s nothing more special than getting to photograph clients through the different seasons of their lives. Capturing Matt and Mariah’s outdoor winter maternity photos felt extra meaningful after documenting their story over the years. This is the third time I’ve been able to photograph them—from their New Buffalo, Michigan Engagement Photos to their beautiful Winter Wedding at The Allure on The Lake. Being able to document this next chapter for them was such an honor.
Since Mariah is due during the winter (it seems we’re always photographing together in frigid temps, LOL!), we thought a tree farm would be the perfect setting for their maternity session. Flickinger Farms in Wakarusa, Indiana ended up being such a cute location for their tree farm maternity photos, with rows of evergreens and the coziest winter setting for this season of their lives!

Mariah started the session in the cutest leopard print dress, while Matt matched perfectly in an all-black outfit. Their outfits paired so well with the deep greens of the trees and really stood out against the winter landscape for their outdoor winter maternity photos.
Finding a pretty location for maternity photos can be tricky in the winter, especially when the leaves have fallen and there’s no snow to cover the dead landscape. That’s why tree farm maternity photos are such a great option this time of year. Pine trees stay green all winter long, which adds beautiful color to photos. And if snow does show up, it only makes the setting even more magical!
A Cozy Outfit Change for Outdoor Maternity Photos
For their second outfit, Mariah changed into a cozy winter look with a scarf and beanie, while Matt wore a warm sweater that fit the setting perfectly. Their outfits felt so natural for their outdoor winter maternity photos, and they matched the relaxed, wintery feel of the tree farm so well.
We were also lucky enough to have sunshine that day, which can be pretty rare during a Midwest winter. The golden light gave us the most beautiful sunset across the rows of evergreens at Flickinger Farms. We even had the whole farm to ourselves, which made the session feel extra peaceful. I absolutely loved the way their tree farm maternity photos turned out!
