Matt and Mariah’s Michigan engagement photos in New Buffalo were so sweet. I’ve actually known Mariah and Matt since high school, so having the opportunity to capture their engagement session is so special to me! Mariah is a hair stylist and even did my hair for my own wedding (you can check her out on Instagram @hairby_mariahp)! Matt ended up proposing to Mariah on their 8 year dating anniversary in December 2023 and I just loved how he chose the perfect day to pop the question! So now here we are on a cold February day for some sweet Michigan engagement photos. They braved the freezing cold temps like champs!
Mariah & Matt’s Michigan Engagement Photos in Downtown New Buffalo
The first part of this session was in downtown New Buffalo. We strolled along the strip with some cute little shops and restaurants. While it was freezing out, we at least had the sun shining which made it a bit better! I loved Mariah and Matt’s outfit choices. Mariah wore such a cute long sleeved green dress with black knee high boots that looked so beautiful on her. I loved the variety of backdrops like the brick buildings and some even had mural paintings on the side. The different looks that we can achieve during your downtown session are endless!
From Strolling Downtown to Sunset at New Buffalo Beach
After strolling around downtown, we then headed to New Buffalo Beach for the second part of their session. New Buffalo Beach is perfect for an engagement session, even in the winter! When it’s this cold, getting the beach all to ourselves tends to be pretty easy. And aside from that, it’s still just as beautiful as it would be in the warmer months. Of course we had to bundle up, and Matt and Mariah killed it again with the outfit choices! We finished up by taking in the gorgeous Michigan sunset. Overall this was such a beautiful session, and it was such an honor for me to capture Matt and Mariah’s Michigan engagement photos, and I can’t wait to capture their winter wedding this coming December, which will be the day before their 9th dating anniversary!
