Matt and Emily’s Michigan surprise proposal at Gordon Beach in New Buffalo was perfect! Matt and Emily are from Chicago and had planned a weekend getaway to New Buffalo to enjoy the end of summer. Little did Emily know, Matt had a surprise up his sleeve! Matt reached out to me with a plan to propose to Emily during a morning walk on the beach with their dog, Ralph. He certainly surprised her, and it was so sweet to capture her reaction!

I arrived at Gordon Beach early and pretended to be another beachgoer enjoying the morning when they came down the beach stairs. Matt approached me and asked me if I could take their photo. Then, he got down on one knee and asked Emily to marry him. Emily was completely shocked and had no idea that Matt was going to propose. She was even more surprised when Matt gave me a thumbs up, and she realized that he had coordinated the whole thing with me!

During their celebratory photos, Emily shared with me that she grew up vacationing in New Buffalo with her family, so she and Matt often try to do the same thing with Ralph for a little getaway. I have a feeling this trip might take the cake! We practically had the beach to ourselves, and the proposal was a huge success. What a way to kick off their vacation!
