From our very first FaceTime call, just 30 minutes after her initial inquiry, Alex already felt like an old friend. When I met Kyle at their session, it was the same easy connection, which made everything feel natural from the start. From the beginning, I knew their antique shop engagement photos were going to reflect that same easy connection.
Alex and Kyle love thrifting pieces for their home, so planning their session at an antique shop felt like the perfect fit. We chose Coppes Commons in Nappanee, Indiana. It’s a cute little marketplace with locally sourced items, an antique shop, a coffee shop, restaurants, ice cream, popcorn, etc. It couldn’t have been more fitting for their style!
I had never photographed in an antique shop before, so I was excited to get creative and lean into something a little different. Sessions like this are such a fun reminder that your engagement photos don’t have to look one specific way. They can reflect who you are and what you love most!

For Alex and Kyle’s antique shop engagement photos, we decided on Coppes Commons because of the variety of spaces it has to offer. We ventured between the coffee shop and the antique shop before heading outside at the end to snag a few more. The coffee shop gave us a cozy spot to warm up and ease into the session. I love how the antique shop added color and character to their photos!
Alex told me that one of the main reasons they hired me as their wedding photographer was because of my true-to-color editing style. Alex is a graphic designer, and her style is both colorful and fun which I absolutely love. Kyle and Alex have a matching “twin flame” tattoo that I think is so cool, so we definitely had to incorporate that into their photos. Hanging out with them for their session has me so excited for their backyard wedding this fall!

You don’t need to plan something “fancy” for your South Bend engagement photos for them to feel special. Choosing a place that actually means something to you, or somewhere you naturally spend time, can make all the difference!
That’s exactly what Alex and Kyle did, and it’s a big part of why their photos feel so genuine. I just love how this session came together. They had such an easy, natural connection. I also loved how they leaned into the vintage style for their antique shop engagement photos in a space they felt comfortable in. It truly made everything come to life in such a special way.
